How will agricultural laws be returned?

According to constitution expert Virag Gupta, the process of withdrawing any law will also be in the same way as a new law is made.

  • First of all, the government will introduce a bill in this regard in both the houses of the Parliament.
  • This bill will be passed by both the houses of the Parliament on the basis of majority.
  • After the bill is passed, it will go to the President. The President will put his seal on it.
  • After the President’s seal, the government will issue the notification.
  • Agricultural laws will be repealed as soon as the notification is issued.

The government can also withdraw the law through the Supreme Court

Know all the three agricultural laws and the reason for their opposition.

Farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Law

government’s argument

The government says that it wants to increase the option for farmers to sell their produce. Through this law, farmers will be able to sell their produce outside the mandis to private buyers at higher prices.

farmers’ argument

The law has given a free hand to large corporate buyers. This open exemption will end the relevance of the mandis in the coming times. The farmers said that if there is a shortage in the market problem, then remove it. But nowhere in the laws has been said to fix the market system.

After 14 months, all three agricultural laws are back: farmers won, government lost

Agriculture (Empowerment and Protection) Price Assurance and Agricultural Services Agreement

government’s argument

Contract farming will open between farmers and private companies. Your land will be hired by a contractor for a fixed amount and will produce the crop according to it and sell it in the market.

farmers’ argument

Farmers will become bonded laborers through contract farming. Illiterate farmers will get entangled in the terms of contract farming. Also, if there is any dispute between the farmer and the contractor, then the farmer’s side will be weak, because the contractor can fight the case by doing a costly lawyer.

Farmer Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation)

government’s argument

Private investment will be exempted for depositing agricultural produce, farmers will sell the crop only after getting the right price. That is, farmers will be able to store their crops and sell them only when the price is right.

farmers’ argument

This will encourage hoarding and black marketing. Most farmers do not have a place to store the crop. Along with this, farmers also need cash for the next crop. By giving exemption to private investment for hoarding agricultural produce, the government will not know who has how much stock and where?
