The journey of the Indian eFootball team began in January last year when the All India Football Federation signed a partnership agreement with FIFA for the FIFA Nations Series 2021.

India was among the 60 participating countries and was placed in the Middle East and Africa region. India finished third in their field, missing out on a spot in the FIFA Nations Playoff 2021.

India ended the season with a global ranking of 22 and topped the rankings of Italy, Argentina and Spain in 2021.

For the 2022 season, India were relegated to the Asia/Oceania region and placed in the play-ins, which would provide direct qualification for the playoffs (the final stage before the Nations Cup).

During the play-ins, India played 32 games over four match weeks and achieved 12 wins, 11 losses and nine draws.

With this, India successfully qualified for the playoffs by finishing second on the Consistency Points chart, moving a step closer to the FIFA Nations Cup 2022. During this period, India also achieved its highest global ranking of 19.

It was easy for India to reach the playoffs. Two matches – two wins – and that’s what the team delivered.
