Bharat Jodo Yatra Re-enters Haryana, Rahul Leaves for Delhi to Meet Ailing Mother

Hooda, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, said all events of the march would go ahead as per schedule on Friday, including a public meeting in Panipat later in the day.

Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra entered Haryana from Uttar Pradesh on Thursday evening but he left for Delhi to meet his ailing mother Sonia Gandhi and would return the next morning, a senior Congress leader said.

“The yatra entered Haryana from the Sanauli border in Panipat in the evening. Rahul ji went to Delhi to meet his ailing mother. He will return to Panipat on Friday morning and then the yatra will resume in the Haryana leg.

He said that Rahul has left for Delhi by car.

Hooda, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, said all events of the march would go ahead as per schedule on Friday, including a public meeting in Panipat later in the day.

Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Wednesday for treatment of respiratory viral infection.

As the yatra entered the Haryana region, it was warmly welcomed by several Congress leaders and workers from the state.

The march, which will resume its Haryana leg in the second leg, will start from Panipat on Friday morning after a night halt at Sanauli Khurd village. In the afternoon, a public meeting will be held in Panipat which will be addressed by Rahul Gandhi, party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and other senior leaders.

In the next few days, it will also pass through Karnal, Kurukshetra and Ambala districts before entering Punjab.

Notably, the yatra covered a distance of over 130 km in the first leg in Haryana from December 21-23, when it passed through Nuh, Gurugram and Faridabad districts.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra, which began on September 7 from Kanyakumari, will end with the unfurling of the national flag. Rahul Gandhi Srinagar 30 January.

The march has so far covered Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, three districts of Haryana (in the first phase), Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
