Bengaluru-bound Nepal Airlines Flight Returns to Kathmandu After Suspected Bird Strike

According to TIA spokesperson Teknath Sitaula, the A320 aircraft of Nepal’s flag carrier landed safely at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and technicians were checking the aircraft.

A Bengaluru-bound Nepal Airlines flight was forced to return to the Tribhuvan International Airport here on Saturday after it reportedly had a bird hit.

According to TIA spokesperson Teknath Sitaula, the A320 aircraft of Nepal’s flag carrier landed safely at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and technicians were checking the aircraft.

News portal Nepal News reported that the flight took off from TIA at 1:45 pm, was forced to return to the same airport 25 minutes later.

The Himalayan Times newspaper quoted TIA sources as saying that passengers on the Bengaluru-bound flight RA-225 reported hearing a loud noise.

“The plane was diverted to Kathmandu after a mid-flight bird strike was suspected,” Sitaula said.

“TIA engineers are now examining the aircraft,” Sitaula said.

Arrangements have been made to transfer the passengers to another aircraft,” the Nepal News report said.

The maximum capacity of the A320 is up to 180 passengers.
