The budget is being presented at a time when the state is locked in a face-off with the Center over the release of the central component of several rural schemes.

The Bengal government, run by Mamata Banerjee, is scheduled to present its budget for the next financial year on Wednesday. The Bengal government had kept a budget of Rs 3,21,030 crore last year.

The budget is being presented at a time when the state is locked in a face-off with the Center over the release of the central component of several rural schemes. This is all the more important as the state is going to have panchayat elections, which are due later this year.

The Bengal Assembly has been witnessing a lot of drama over the past few days with the Speaker threatening to remove Shubhendu Adhikari for his comments for diverting attention from the subject of the Assembly.

The West Bengal Assembly witnessed high drama on Monday as Leader of the Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari walked out of the House attacking the Speaker, but the BJP leader was stopped from being suspended as Chief Minister. Mamata Banerjee Apologized on your behalf.

As the House assembled after recess, Adhikari began his speech criticizing the Governor’s inaugural speech as it did not mention several corruption cases including the SSC scam and the arrest of senior TMC leaders and ministers.

Speaker Biman Banerjee asked the officer not to mention anything that was not related to the work of the House and ordered that his remarks be expunged.

The irate officer started attacking the Speaker and raising slogans against him.

Adhikari and BJP MLAs tore papers and walked out of the House despite the Speaker warning them with a privilege motion.
