Bengal govt goes for land acquisition in Birbhum, alert Mamata announces Rs 10,000 cr compensation

It is time to acquire land again in West Bengal, but with a different government and a leader at the top. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Singur is making extra efforts to complete the project without repeating it.

Devcha Pachmi in Birbhum is the second largest coal block in the world. The Center has entered into an allocation agreement with the state for project development. This will create immense employment opportunities in the state, believes the state government.

Mamata Banerjee announced in the assembly that land acquisition would take place after discussions with all stakeholders and said it would not work like Singur.

Discussions have taken place with the stakeholders and the CM tabled the packages in the Vidhan Sabha today.

The Deocha Pachami coal block is spread over an area of ​​3,400 acres, where 1,198 million metric tonnes of coal and 1,400 million cubic meters of basalt deposits are found. Out of 3400 acres, about 1,000 acres is with the state government.

More than 21,000 people live in 12 villages and 314 households in the area.

The government is saying that the coal taken from the area will not only develop the region but will help in developing the economy of the state and the country. And it is expected that more than 1 lakh jobs will be created.

The state government will have to invest Rs 35,000 crore for this project. The work will be done in phases and in the first phase in Dewanganj area.

The state government has claimed that they have spoken with the tribals, tribals and all other stakeholders before bringing out a package where the affected people will be given houses, jobs and other benefits.

The compensation package announced by the state government is as follows:

The government will spend Rs 10,000 crore on compensation.

The person who has land in this area will get compensation of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 14 lakh per bigha.

He will get Rs 5 lakh more for shifting the maintenance of cattle shelter.

People of RR Colony will get a house of 600 square feet.

-3,000 crusher labor will get a maintenance charge of Rs 1,20,000.

Farmers working there will get a lump sum of Rs 50,000.

285 crusher owners will get the cost of construction of their land and shifting charge of Rs 50,000. They will also get 10 free basalts and a place in the nearby Chara Moyna Basalt Park.

-27 Mine owners will get compensation on their land and house.

Houses will be provided here for Model RR Colony and the total area will be developed with all facilities.

As Mamata herself did the Singur agitation, she has seen every aspect of compensation directly.

Left leader Sujan Chakraborty, however, has said, “Why could they not implement this project for 10 years? Singur land acquisition took place under government rules, God knows what will happen this time.
