Bengal: BJP to hold 4-day protest against vaccination scam in Kolkata today

BJP West Bengal will hold a four-day statewide protest against the vaccine scam in Kolkata. The protest in the state capital will take place on July 15.

On July 15, starting from Alipore petrol pump at 12 noon, the rally will gather at Alipore DM office.

The protest will be against a fake vaccination racket, which is allegedly managed by a man named Debanjan Deb, who posed as an IAS officer.

He was busted by the Kolkata Police in June. Over 800 people, including TMC MP Mimi Chakraborty, were misled to get fake vaccines.

The scam triggered a political dispute between the TMC and the BJP. While the BJP has claimed that Deb had links with senior TMC personalities, the TMC has denied the allegations.

Earlier, the BJP had held a similar protest in central Kolkata on July 4, despite the Kolkata Police refusing permission to maintain the COVID rules.

The Bidhannagar police had detained Bengal BJP chief spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya and leader Archana Majumdar for protesting the misrule of the state government and clashed with the police.

All party leaders including MP will lead the protests in their respective constituencies and constituencies.
