Bengal and Punjab had maximum freedom fighters in Port Blair jail: Shah

Bengal has a special contribution in the freedom struggle. In this way, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Port Blair in Andaman on Friday and remembered the freedom fighters of Bengal. Earlier, even before the last assembly elections, the Union Home Minister had paid tribute to Bengali intellectuals at the birthplace of freedom fighter Khudiram.

The Union Home Minister visited the Port Blair Cellular Jail on the same day and said, “When I came here, I was looking at the list of Indian freedom fighters who were kept in this Cellular Jail till 1937.” Bengal and Punjab should be proud. These two provinces have the largest number of freedom fighters. He also said, ‘I went to the chamber of freedom fighter Sachin Sanal and garlanded his portrait. This is a very emotional moment for me. He is probably the only freedom fighter who had to be sent here twice. Union Home Minister Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is also on a three-day visit to Andaman.

The Union Home Minister will attend a function of the Andaman Police next Sunday. In addition, some development projects in Andaman, notably the Shahid Dweep Eco-tourism Project and the Swaraj Dweep Water Airport Project are also to be visited by the Union Home Minister. However, in front of all this, the contribution of Bengal in the freedom struggle is being considered important in front of the Union Home Minister.
