A total of 405 players will be bidding in Kochi and they are expected to bag IPL contracts for the upcoming season

For the second time this year, hundreds of players will be hoping to fetch big bucks at the IPL 2023 auction on December 23 in Kochi. The mega auction earlier this year has been devoid of superstars, barring a few of them. However, there are some big names – either dropped out of the February auction / released since then / unsold / entrants for the first time – that could trigger a bidding war among the 10 franchises .

News18 Cricket Next Let us have a look at some of them:-

Ben Stokes (Base price: Rs 2 crore)

The first time Stokes came under fire, he got himself a shocking Rs 14.50 crore deal in 2017. The England all-rounder, however, has not been an IPL regular like some of his compatriots for various reasons. However, considering his abilities in all three departments, teams would have no problem breaking the bank to secure his signing. he is now a t20 world Also a cup winner and played a key role in England’s campaign.

Sam Curran (Base price: Rs 2 crore)

Curran won the Player of the Tournament award at the T20 World Cup earlier this year and will surely be one of the most sought-after players. He has already won an IPL title with Chennai Super Kings in 2021 but is set to miss the 2022 season due to fitness issues. The 24-year-old has taken 149 wickets in 145 T20s and scored 1731 runs at a strike rate of 135.65. He showed great improvement in the World Cup, especially with his bowling, and his batting can prove to be an effective weapon against left-arm spinners and legspinners.

Harry Brook (Base price: Rs 1.5 crore)

Brook is highly rated in England cricket circles and the young batsman has done everything right so far to justify that hype. During England’s pre-World Cup T20I series victory in Pakistan, Brook scored 238 to win the Player of the Series award. The 23-year-old has scored 2432 runs in 99 T20s at a strike rate of 148.38, including one century and nine half-centuries. Stokes compared his technique Virat Kohli Which gives him the ability to be successful across formats.

Cameron Green (Base price: Rs 2 crore)

Green started off as a fast bowler but quickly proved that he also possessed a good batting technique. Indian fans got a first-hand taste of Green’s immense potential when he opened for Australia during the three-match T20I series earlier this year. He hit 118 runs at an impressive strike rate of 214.54 and can be shuffled around as per the need. Overall, the 23-year-old has scored 245 runs in 17 T20 innings at a strike rate of 137.64. Another young player on whom the franchise would like to bet.

Mayank Agarwal (Base price: Rs 1 crore)

Recency bias can give one a false impression of Agarwal’s competence. IPL 2022 might have been forgettable for him both as a player and a captain – a role he eventually lost once the season ended. However, Agarwal is one of the top openers in IPL. With several franchises in need of a solid, reliable opener, the 31-year-old, without the burden of captaincy, could return to his free-flowing ways and prove to be a solid buy.

Adil Rashid (Base price: Rs 2 crore)

Rashid may not have picked up many wickets during the T20 World Cup, but make no mistake that he was vital to England’s title triumph at the marquee event in Australia. He played his quota in all six matches and finished with an economy of just 6.12. In the middle overs, he kept the batsmen under control while applying pressure. There are a few franchises including Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad who are in dire need of a world-class spinner.

N Jagadeesan (Base price: Rs 20 lakh)

Jagadeesan recently grabbed headlines with an unreal performance in India’s top domestic one-day competition. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, opening for Tamil Nadu, the 26-year-old scored a world-record haul of five consecutive centuries, including his fifth innings record-breaking 277 – the highest individual score in List A history. He has previously played for Chennai Super Kings in IPL. Though his figures in the tournament haven’t been great, but going by his current form, he could command a hefty bid.
