‘Bell Bottom’ Review: A Great Narrative; Must see in theater

New Delhi: ‘Bell Bottom’ stars Akshay Kumar as a RAW agent who, without any bloodshed, undertakes the impossible mission of recapturing a hijacked plane and landing safely on Indian soil with all the surviving passengers. Is. It is sleek and stylish on all sides.

Akshay Kumar’s character, Anshul, is not only inspired by the call of duty but also due to a personal loss. His mother, an asthma patient, played by Dolly Ahluwalia, had died when an Indian flight was hijacked by Pakistanis. He had lost his life as he was denied life-saving oxygen by the kidnappers. Hence the character of Akshay Kumar is focused, determined and goal-oriented.

The film stars Vaani Kapoor as the leading lady (Akshay Kumar’s wife). Her character has a wonderful twist, which appears much later in the story. Lara Dutta plays Mrs. Indira Gandhi and Huma Qureshi, a special agent working for the Dubai government.

Akshay Kumar has definitely paid attention to the looks and nuances of a special agent who leads a normal life but drops everything when it comes to duty. He is in top form looking sleek and gentle in his retro look and for the most part maintains the film with his acting skills. He does justice to his character. The relationship between mother and son is sweet.

Vaani Kapoor has a sweet yet impressive role. She excels in portraying a good comedic character and looks stunning, and brings a lot of freshness to the screen. This could be a career-defining role for Lara Dutta. She looks like Mrs Gandhi and excels in her performance. Huma Qureshi, especially when her true identity is revealed, will surely blow you away.

The story is strong and every character comes with a back story or a sudden twist, so that the audience’s interest is not lost.

The sheer scale of the film is outstanding; The makers (Pooja Entertainment) don’t shy away from spending money to make it larger than life and achieving this in the midst of the pandemic is commendable.

Editing could have been crisp in the first half, but the second half is so smooth and fast that you will never know when the film will end.

Special Effects (VFX) could have been better. The film was shot in Scotland, but not once do you feel that any liberties have been taken with the authenticity of the story. The production designers who recreated the 1980s deserve special mention.

The songs are short but well placed. What stood out were the gurdwara song ‘Khair Mangdi’ and the title track ‘Dhoom Tara’, which stays with you just after you leave the theatre.

‘Bell Bottom’ is a must see on the big screen.
