Indian Coast Guard (ICG) ships and aircraft are issuing weather warnings to all sailors and fishermen in the sea off southeast Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea.

Earlier on Saturday, with the approach of Cyclone Asani of the year over the Bay of Bengal, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands administration issued an advisory for fishermen, urging them not to venture into the sea during the cyclone period from March 19-22. Had it.

“Fishermen are strongly advised not to venture into the sea during the period of Cyclone Asani,” the Andaman and Nicobar Administration had tweeted on Saturday morning.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had said that the low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal will become well marked on the morning of March 20 and intensify into a cyclonic storm on March 21. Thereafter it will move along Andaman and Nicobar Islands. and reach Bangladesh-North Myanmar coasts on 22 March.

“The LPA over central parts of south Bay of Bengal becomes WML along and off Andaman and Nicobar Islands on March 19, into a depression by the morning of March 20 and into a cyclonic storm on March 21. Approximately north -To move north-eastwards and approach Bangladesh-North Myanmar coasts on March 22,” the National Weather Forecasting Agency tweeted on March 17.

In view of the forecast, the island administration has activated emergency control rooms. Chief Secretary Jitendra Narayan on Friday reviewed the preparedness of the Union Territory level to deal with Cyclone Asani. All officers were directed to make every effort to ensure the safety of all citizens.
