Amidst the ongoing violence in many cities of Maharashtra, the country’s financial capital Mumbai was threatened with a bomb late on Saturday evening. This threat was given over the phone just 13 days before the anniversary of 26/11 terror attack. However, late in the night the police identified the caller.

According to GRP Mumbai, the caller lives with his mother in Dubai and is mentally unsound. Last week too, this person had given similar information over phone to a police officer in Gandhidham, Gujarat. The police have confirmed this after talking to the family members of the said person.

Railway Police got a call at Mumbai’s Bandra station
An unknown person called the Railway Police at Mumbai’s Bandra railway station on Saturday. On the phone, Sirfira talked about blowing up the whole city with bombs. After this phone call, the police team has become alert and security has been increased at all places. In particular, orders have been given to keep vigil at all railway stations. Apart from this, all the concerned security agencies have also been informed by the Railways about the threat call.

Railway Police Commissioner said – no need to panic
Mumbai Railway Police Commissioner Kaiser Khalid himself informed everyone about the threat call. Khalid tweeted that information about possible bomb attack in Mumbai has been received by Bandra RPS on telephone today. The caller has been contacted. Security has been increased. All supporting agencies have been informed. We are inquiring into the matter. No one needs to panic.

Vigilance even before the date of Mumbai attack approaches
There is an atmosphere of vigilance everywhere even before the date of the 2008 Mumbai terror attack on November 25. During this vigil, the police are taking the threat of bomb blasts very seriously and investigation is being done from every angle.

Threatened to blow up Ambala-Chandigarh station two days ago
Two days ago, Ambala and Chandigarh railway stations in Haryana were also threatened with bombs. Sirfire, who claims to be a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba, had sent a letter to Ambala Railway DRM threatening to carry out a bomb blast on the anniversary of 25/11.

Two weeks ago, a letter threatening to blow up 9 railway stations including Meerut was also sent. In this letter also, the 25/11 attack of Mumbai was mentioned while threatening from Lashkar-e-Taiba. This letter is being investigated by the ATS of Uttar Pradesh Police.
