Beast first review out: Vijay’s brilliant performance in ‘Paisa-Vasool’ action entertainer

Tamil superstar Vijay’s much-awaited film Beast is all set to hit the theaters on April 13. Ahead of the film’s release, foreign censor board member Umair Sandhu got a chance to watch the film written and directed by Nelson Dilpakumar.

Sandhu shared his review of the film on social media and gave it four stars. Posting the review on his Instagram story, Sandhu wrote, “Vijay looks dashing and his performance is outstanding. He is brilliant in every frame. Interesting story and screenplay, dialogues are worth clapping. Nelson’s direction is simple and he shows he has the ability to handle a film of this scale. He connects the dots neatly in the narrative. Overall, The Beast is a penny-packed action entertainer with style as well as enough twists and turns to keep the audience hooked.” (sic)

In a tweet, Sandhu called Beast “one of the best films ever made in the history of Kollywood”.

Beast follows Vijay’s “best and most infamous detective” Veera Raghavan who sets out to rescue people from kidnappers in Chennai’s East Coast mall. He is described as “mean, lean and strong” in the trailer. Beast is Vijay’s 65th film. The film went on floors in 2021. However, the shooting was stopped due to the second wave of coronavirus.

Beast is Pooja’s first film with Vijay. It also marks her return to Tamil cinema after a gap of nine years. The actor made his silver screen debut in 2012 with director Maskin’s crime drama Mugamudi.

Selvaraghavan and Yogi Babu play supporting roles in Beast. Kalanidhi Maran has produced the film under his banner Sun Pictures. Music of Beast is written by Anirudh Ravichander. The film will face clashes at the box office with Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2, which also stars Sanjay Dutt.
