PM Modi meets new MPs: Sources said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met new Rajya Sabha MPs and advised them to be regular in the House, be prepared and use words carefully in the ‘House of Elders’.

Several BJP MPs, including Union Minister and Leader of the House Piyush Goyal and his cabinet colleague Nirmala Sitharaman, were among the 27 newly-elected Rajya Sabha members who took oath as members of the State Council on Friday.

Surendra Singh Nagar, K Laxman, Laxmikant Bajpai and Kalpana Saini were the other members of the BJP who took oath as Members of Parliament. Sources said Modi held a meeting with the MPs in the evening and apprised them about their regular attendance in the House and their responsibilities, including the choice of words.

He said that the members took oath in the Rajya Sabha chamber in the presence of Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu as per the requirement of allegiance to the Constitution.
