‘BCCI will deal with it appropriately’: President Sourav Ganguly breaks silence on Virat Kohli’s press conference

Sourav Ganguly finally responded to Virat Kohli’s explosive press conference where he spoke of his sacking as ODI captain and refuted the comments of the BCCI President. Kohli was sacked as ODI captain earlier this month, and the next day Ganguly claimed that the BCCI had asked Kohli not to step down from T20I captaincy in September and the selectors had asked him to step down from the 50-overs captaincy. Had to be dropped because they wanted a captain. For the white ball format. However, Kohli had refuted Ganguly’s statement during his explosive press conference on Wednesday ahead of his departure for the South Africa Test series.

The explosive press conference has thrown the BCCI into question as the cricket board and the president are blamed for the shoddy sacking of Kohli.

Ganguly declined to comment on the entire sage and told News18: “I don’t want to comment. BCCI will deal with it appropriately.”

Meanwhile, on Friday, Kohli said that 90 minutes before the selection of the Test squad for the South Africa tour, the selectors had informed him of his removal from the ODI captaincy.

“Whatever was said about the communication that had happened regarding the decision was wrong. I was contacted for the Test series on December 8, an hour and a half before the selection meeting and after announcing my decision on T20I captaincy There was no prior communication from me,” Kohli said.

Kohli also refuted Ganguly’s comments where the BCCI president said that he asked the 33-year-old not to give up the T20I captaincy.

“When I relinquished the T20I captaincy, the first thing I did was contact BCCI and apprised them of my decision and put my point before them (offices). I explained the reason why I wanted to step down from T20 captaincy and my idea was very well received. There was no offense, there was no hesitation and not even for once I was told ‘you should not give up T20 captaincy’,” Kohli said.
