BCCI looking to get Rishabh Pant fit for ODI World Cup 2023: Report

India’s star wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant is undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru as he is on his way to recovery from a serious car crash accident. Pant, who underwent surgery for his injuries, is reportedly recovering faster than the expectation of the Indian board. Keeping the optimism open, the board wants to prepare him for the ODI World Cup 2023.

According to a report in ESPN Cricinfo, the Indian board is trying to fast track Pant’s rehab and prepare him for the 2023 World Cup in India. However, the report added that the recovery process is likely to be long-drawn.

It has also been said that Pant looks ‘largely pain-free’ but his ‘skill work is still some time away’. He is working under physio S Rajinikanth and is working on his upper body and lower body mobility. The star wicketkeeper is also conducting interactive sessions with age group cricketers, who are at NCA for training camps. He is accompanied by NCA physio Thulasi Ram Yuvraj, who has been with him for days after the accident. The wicket-keeper star has mixed rehab sessions of aqua therapy, light swimming and table tennis.

Pant has recently started walking without crutches and climbing stairs without any support. He also uploaded a video of it. Pant recently wrote in a video shared on social media, ‘Not bad, friend Rishabh. Simple things can sometimes be difficult.

Pant last played a competitive match in India’s Test series against Bangladesh. He also missed the subsequent Indian matches and playing the Indian Premier League 2023. During his recovery time, Pant kept updating Indian fans about his health. He posted pictures and videos of his rehab on several occasions.
