BCCI ‘Anxious’ After Back-to-Back Losses In Bangladesh, Review Meeting With Rohit, Virat To Follow-Report

With Rohit himself turning 35, it needs to be seen whether the BCCI continues his captaincy tenure after the 2023 edition. As of now, it is believed that Rohit will lead India in the home World Cup. Also, Hardik Pandya, in all likelihood, will replace Rohit as far as the T20 edition is concerned. The team is set to undergo major changes in the lead up to the 2024 T20 World Cup in West Indies and USA.

Earlier on Wednesday, Bangladesh beat India by five runs in the second ODI to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Electing to bat, Mehidy Hasan Miraj (100 not out) hit his maiden ODI century and shared a 148-run partnership with Mahmudullah Riyad (77) to take Bangladesh to a challenging 69 for six in 19 overs.

For India, Washington Sundar (3/37) was the most successful bowler, while Mohammad Siraj (2/73) and Umran Malik (2/58) also took two wickets each. Chasing, Shreyas Iyer scored 82 while Akshar Patel made 56 off one ball but India fell short as they could only manage 266 for nine in 50 overs. Captain Rohit Sharma, who spread his fire during fielding, remained unbeaten after scoring 51 runs in 28 balls.
