BBL 2021-22: Sydney Thunder Sign Pakistan Pace Bowling Sensation Mohammad Hasnain

Big Bash League (BBL) side Sydney Thunder have included Pakistan’s 21-year-old T20 fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain in the club’s roster for the season.

Hasnain, who has played eight ODIs and 18 T20Is, has joined a Thunder squad that already has fast bowlers like Daniel Sams, Ben Cutting, Saqib Mahmood, Chris Tremain, Nathan McAndrew, Gurinder Sandhu and Brendan Doggett.

In 2019, Hasnain announced his arrival as a future star when, at the age of 19, he entered the game’s record books as the youngest bowler to take a hat-trick in a T20I match. The Hyderabad pacer of Pakistan achieved this feat against Sri Lanka.

In the same year, Hasnain bowled the fastest ball ever recorded in each competition in both the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). He launched rockets at 151 kmph for Quetta Gladiators and bowled at 155.1 kmph for Trinbago Knight Riders.

Thunder’s Queensland pacer Ben Cutting, who played with Hasnain in Quetta, said it would ‘hurry up’ the young BBL batsmen if given a chance.

“He bowls fast; Easily go up to 150kmph,” Cutting said.

“He’s a lovely young kid, and his team back home is looking forward to learning about the game and coming here and bowling fast. Mohammad would love to bowl in Australia. We have fast pitches and big boundaries. – conditions that are far more conducive to fast bowling than Pakistan,” Cutting said in a statement on sydneythunder.com.au.

“I have no doubt that he is going to enjoy the experience, and I know he will be a tremendous addition to Sydney Thunder’s team.”
