Basant Panchami 2022 Date: Know the importance, timing of Saraswati Puja for the next year

New Delhi: Like every new year, festivities begin in India, the next year is also going to bring the joy of festivities. With the festivities observed over the past two years coming under the shadow of Covid-19, here’s hoping that 2022 will be a safe one.

One of the many such festivals celebrated here is Basant Panchami. Also known as Basant Panchami, the day marks the birthday celebrations of Goddess Saraswati in educational institutions, club grounds, homes and temples.

Basant Panchami is celebrated on the ‘Panchami’ (5th day) of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight of the moon) in the month of ‘Magha’ in the Hindu calendar, which corresponds to the month of January–February in the English calendar. This festival also marks the beginning of spring season or spring season in India.

During the day, devotees wear yellow clothes as it symbolizes the vibrancy of life and the vibrancy of nature. Young girls especially wear bright yellow clothes and take part in the festivities.

On this day, poetry and music festivals are organized on several platforms. On this day young children in Bengali families are taught to write alphabets for the first time. People also wear yellow colored clothes to participate in the festival. The day is considered suitable for the farmers to celebrate as the agricultural fields are filled with the yellow flowers of the mustard crop. This day is also considered for doing something new, getting married or doing griha pravesh (house warming ceremony).
