Bank Holidays in September: Banks will be closed for 12 days this month View Dates

NS reserve Bank of India issued a list of Bank holiday For the month of September 2021. Banks across India, as per the list, will see seven holidays by state and date. Not all holidays are accounted for in these seven holidays listed in RBI’s list of mandatory bank holidays. In addition to these leaves there are also weekend leaves. This month there are a total of six days of weekend holidays which will be a bank holiday. However, the second Saturday of the month overlaps with one of the list of holidays issued by the bank. reserve Bank of India. This leaves the final count on 12 days of leave in the month of September.

The RBI holiday list falls into the categories of state-wise celebrations, religious holidays and festival celebrations. However, if the official classification is to be considered, the list of holidays falls in the bracket of ‘Leave under Negotiable Instruments Act’. Other classifications for RBI listing are ‘Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday’ and ‘Banks’ Closing of Accounts’. The other two classifications do not apply to the next month’s bank holidays.

The holidays issued by RBI are scheduled to start from September 8, however, if you account for the weekend as well, the list of holidays actually starts from September 5, 2021. This will mark the first Sunday of the month and a holiday for all banks across India, given that it is a weekend holiday. On that note, keep in mind that none of the cards in the RBI list are uniform in nature, nor do they apply to all banks across India at the same time. It all depends on which state has been allotted a particular date as the day of celebration.

For example, the first holiday issued by RBI is on the date of Shrimant Sankardev and it is only a holiday for banks in Guwahati. No other city in any other state shall have a holiday for that particular day. Keeping this in mind, you should know that this month is a holiday which is quite extensive. On 10th September, Ganesh Chaturthi/Samvatsari (Chaturthi Paksha)/Vinayaka Chaturthi/Varasiddhi Vinayaka Vrat will be observed in total 9 cities of different states. Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji places where there will be a bank holiday for this holiday.

The next day is the second day of Ganesh Chaturthi, but according to RBI this relaxation will be applicable only for banks in Panaji. Hence, it will serve you well as a bank-goer to keep these dates in mind as the month progresses.
