Bank Holidays in August, 2021: Banks will remain closed for 14 days this month. see full list

NS reserve Bank of India (RBI) early last month released the list of holidays for the month of August. According to the above list, the month of August is approximately 15. Was Bank holiday across the country. These 15 days were a combination of a weekend holiday as well as state-based holidays, festivals and religious gatherings. A total of eight days fell in the latter categories, while the other seven days were weekends and another Saturday. As per the classification of RBI, the list of holidays can potentially fall under any one of three categories. They can be ‘holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act’, ‘holidays and real-time gross settlement holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act’ or ‘banks’ closing of accounts’.

In this case, for the month of August, reserve Bank of India The list of holidays comes under ‘Holidays under Negotiable Instruments Act’. The official list of holidays starts from 13th August which is Patriots’ Day in Imphal. However, if you count the weekend holidays for lenders, the list of holidays actually begins on August 1, which is the first Sunday of the month. Since August 1 has already passed at the time of this report, there are overall only 14 holidays left for banks in India.

It should be noted that not all banks will experience the list of holidays equally, as holidays for specific dates are state-wise or region-wise. Along with this, careful planning is essential while planning your next trip to the bank. Out of the complete list, there are only two days where most of the banks across the country will be closed – August 19 and August 30.

On August 19, Muharram (Ashura) will be held in Agartala, Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi and Srinagar. On this day, there will be a bank holiday at these 17 places. As a result of August 30, Janmashtami (Shravan Vad-8) or Krishna Jayanti, there will be a bank holiday in 15 different cities and regions. These cities include Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Lucknow, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar and Gangtok.

Apart from these two days, the rest of the holidays will be extended except weekends and of course the second Saturday. So, don’t worry too much this month, with a little careful planning you will be able to work around the list of holidays in the month of August.
