Bank Holiday in July: Banks will be closed for 6 days straight from tomorrow, complete list

If you are planning to visit bank branches next month, you must be aware that public and private sector lenders in different parts of the country will remain closed for at least six days from tomorrow. In Bank holiday Same day is not for all states.

The Reserve Bank of India has notified holidays for lenders under three brackets – Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday, Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday and closure of accounts of banks. All banks including public sector, private sector, foreign banks, co-operative banks and regional banks across the country remain closed on these notified holidays. Bank holidays vary from state to state. All lenders are closed on Republic Day (January 26), Independence Day (August 15), and Gandhi Jayanti (October 2), Christmas Day (December 25). Banks are also closed on festivals including Diwali, Christmas, Eid, Guru Nanak Jayanti, Good Friday.

There are 15 holidays in banks in the month of July. All lenders will remain closed in Dehradun to celebrate Harela Puja on July 16. In Agartala and Shillong, banks will remain closed on July 17 on the occasion of U Tirot Singh Diwas and Kharchi Puja. July 18 will be a Sunday when all public and private sector banks will remain closed. There will be a bank holiday in Gangtok on 19th July on account of Thungkar Tshechu of Guru Rimpoche. On July 20, all lenders in Jammu, Kochi, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram will remain closed for Bakrid. There will be a nationwide bank holiday on 21st July for Eid ul Adha. However, banks in Aizawl, Bhubaneswar, Gangtok, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram will function from July 21.

16 July 2021 – Thursday – Harela Puja (Dehradun)

17 July 2021 – Saturday – U Tirot Singh Day / Kharchi Puja (Agartala, Shillong)

18 July 2021 – Sunday (Weekend Holiday)

19 July 2021 – Monday – Thungkar Tshechu of Guru Rimpoche (Gangtok)

20 July 2021 – Tuesday – Bakrid (Jammu, Kochi, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram)

21 July 2021 – Tuesday – Eid Al Adha (All over the country except Aizawl, Bhubaneshwar, Gangtok, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram)

Bank customers should check the Bank Holiday List regularly for any new updates and also verify the same from the Holiday List released by Reserve Bank of India on its official website.
