BALLARI: Ballari has fared poorly in the disposal of applications under Sakala services, in June and July. In fact, the district has stood last in the state. The report for May was released by the department of personnel and administration reforms (DPAR), on all districts, taking into account their performance. Ballari district has not improved, and continues to perform poorly in disposing of services.
However, the district ranked 30th in May as well. The ranking, given based on the receipt of applications from the public by the authorities, and their disposal, points to how effective the implementation of the scheme has been in the district. Tumakuru district was on top in July.
There are many complaints against authorities not issuing caste certificates in Ballari district. The DPAR report substantiates this: As many as 82,079 Sakala applications were received in June, and 76,528 of them were disposed of. Of them, 8.3% of applications were disposed of beyond the stipulated time. In July, the district disposed of 85,272 applications, against 75,392 applications received, including last month. A total 19.3% of applications were disposed of beyond the stipulated time.
Sources said the NEKRTC Ballari division has kept a large number of applications pending, by not disposing of them. The revenue department is in the next position, in receiving applications in the district.
“I have been continuing to follow up for disposal of applications under Sakala services, but we are confused about its criteria, and parameters of assessing achievements under this service. I will direct departments to expedite disposal of applications that have been received under Sakala,” said Pavan Kumar Malpati, the deputy commissioner of Ballari.
Nimbagal Ramkrishna, a social media in-charge of KPCC Kalyana Karnataka region, expressed his disappointment over the achievement under Sakala. “The government doesn’t have any control over the district administration. The concerned minister should take note of the poor performance of Ballari district,” he said.
