Baahubali: The Beginning completes 7 years, looking at Prabhas’s spectacular physical transformation

Prabhas has managed to make a place in the hearts of the people. India Amarendra with his magnum-opus portrayal of Baahubali. The star had to follow rigorous workout sessions and an intense diet in order to achieve his physique for the character.

Prabhas’s amazing physical transformation had inspired many people across the country. The makers of the film had gifted the star gym equipment for Rs. 1.5 crore to help prepare him for the role in the film directed by SS Rajamouli.

As per reports, the regular diet chart for the star will consist of fish, egg whites, vegetables and almonds. He used to eat six meals a day and none of the meals contained rice as he was trying to reduce his carbohydrate consumption.

The number of calories the actor was allowed to consume during the shooting of the film was around 2000-4000 calories per day and never more than that. His entire progress was supervised by professional bodybuilder Laxman Reddy.

“As Baahubali, Prabhas had to build a lot of muscle and for the son’s character, Shivudu, he had to look lean. His body fluctuated for more than four years; it was difficult. Prabhas weighed around 100 kg and had a body fat percentage between 9-10. Laxman Reddy said that for the small role, he had to build a toned body with minimal muscles.

Earlier in an interview the trainer had also revealed, “He would have six meals with egg whites, chicken, nuts, almonds, fish and vegetables. To prepare for Bahubali, he had eight meals a day, with cheese and vegetables. Carb-heavy with mutton. In the evening, we had weight training sessions, which included deadlifts, squats, bench presses and other rigorous exercises.

He was also quoted as saying, “He would shoot for hard-core stunts and be exhausted by the end of it, but never miss a workout. There were days when we would start exercising at midnight. His dedication was amazing.”
