Mumbai: Indian hockey player Vandana Kataria’s family is facing casteist treatment from a section of the society. Ever since the Indian women’s hockey team lost to Argentina at the Tokyo Olympics on August 4, some men reportedly gathered outside Vandana Kataria’s house and hurled casteist abuses at her family.
Celebrities have condemned the act on their social media and have shown their support to Vandana Kataria and her family. Ayushmann Khurrana is one such personality who criticized this act. Sharing a picture of Vandana on his Instagram story, the ‘Many’ actor wrote, “Racist slurs on someone who has given everything for the country is the worst form of humiliation. This has to stop now! “

Earlier, Swara Bhaskar also showed her support and tweeted, “We shouldn’t need the #OlympicCommittee to tell us to take care of our fellow citizens and sportspersons! Shameful what happened #VandanaKatariya.. We are a diseased society.
On a related note, the Indian women’s hockey team has missed out on its chance to win a historic bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Though they could not bring home the medals, they have certainly inspired many girls to dream big in the field of sports.
