KL Rahul lauded his team’s all-round effort after Lucknow Super Giants chased down a tight target to register a 6-wicket win over Delhi Capitals in Match No. 15 of IPL 2022 in Mumbai on Thursday.

Rahul lauded his team’s powerplay bowling for restricting a strong Delhi Capitals batting unit to 149 for 3.

After Rahul invited Delhi Capitals to bat, the Rishabh Pant-led side posted 149 for 3 with opener Prithvi Shaw scoring 61 off 34 balls, while skipper Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan scored respectively. 39 not out and 36 not out. , LSG chased down the target with two balls to spare, as South Africa’s Quinton de Kock scored 80 off 52 balls.

For DC, Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets while Shardul Thakur and Lalit Yadav took one wicket each.

“I think we were fantastic (with the ball). In Powerplay, we obviously need to go back and get things done. But powerplay sometimes goes like this. We assessed things well after that and bowled better. Obviously, the bowlers would have liked to assess things a little earlier, but it was nice to see them discussing line, length and pace to bowl after the powerplays,” Rahul said in the post-match presentation.

Speaking about the youth, Aayush Badoni, Rahul praised and said that he is a quick learner and a person who works under pressure.

“It was a really honest reason (of his saying at the toss that he didn’t know why he opted to bowl). Can’t make up a reason every time. You don’t know what to expect from the pitch. When the pitches are fresh at the start of the competition, the teams will want to bowl first. Once the tournament progresses and the pitches hold up a bit, teams will want to bat. Whenever he (Badoni) has come out to bat, he has kept his enthusiasm and under pressure he has bowled for us. Great lesson for him, it’s important for him to keep working hard and being humble. So far it has been a complete team effort. The way everyone has stepped up is fantastic.”
