Ayodhya Saints Perform ‘Mahamrityunjay Jaap’ for Lata Mangeshkar as Singer Continues to Remain in the ICU

Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar continues to remain in the intensive care unit, with fans and well-wishers praying for her speedy recovery. Recently, saints in Ayodhya performed ‘Mahamrityunjaya Jaap’ and ‘Havan’ for the veteran singer, who was admitted to the hospital after testing Covid-19 positive. Jagadguru Paramhans Acharya Maharaj, who took part in the holy ritual for Mangeshkar, said he also wants Prime Minister Narendra Modi to meet the 92-year-old singer, who is currently in the ICU.

“We have done ‘Mahamrityunjaya Jaap’ for singer Lata Mangeshkar’s better health. I will request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to meet her,” IANS quoted Jagadguru Paramhans Acharya Maharaj as saying.

The singer tested positive for coronavirus with mild symptoms and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Breach Candy Hospital in south Mumbai on January 8. The Mangeshkar family once again asked people not to do so through the singer’s official account. Indulge in spreading ‘disturbing rumours’ about his health condition.

On Tuesday, he released a statement on Twitter which read, “Lata didi’s health is improving marginally and she is still in ICU. Please refrain from spreading disturbing rumors or falling prey to random messages about Didi’s health. Thank You.”

He is being treated by a team of doctors at Breach Candu Hospital, which is headed by Dr Pratat Samdan.

One of the greatest and most respected singers of Indian cinema, Mangeshkar received Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, in 2001.

She is also the recipient of several other awards including Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Awards and several National Film Awards. Also known as the Queen of Melody and the Nightingale of Bollywood, she has a career spanning over seven decades.
