‘Avatar- The Way of Water’ BEATS ‘Avengers Endgame’ at the box office, becomes highest-grossing Hollywood film in India

New Delhi: James Cameron’s ‘Avatar – The Way of Water’ is living up to its dream run in terms of its box office figures in India. According to a Box Office India report, the film has crossed the Rs 450 crore mark at the gross box office level in India, surpassing ‘Avengers Endgame’.

Box Office India reports, “In terms of gross collections, as Avengers Endgame’s gross numbers have been crossed, the film’s gross collections are around 450 crores.”

Earlier, the film had surpassed Tom Cruise starrer ‘Top-Gun Maverick’ to become the highest grosser of 2022 at the global box office level.

‘Avengers Endgame’ starred Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner and collected Rs 438 crore at the gross box office level. It was the last film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Infinity series.

‘Avatar – The Way of Water’ is the second installment of the franchise and marks the return of Stephen Lang’s villainous character Colonel Quaritch – who appears to have been resurrected via a Na’vi Avatar form – once again playing the Pandora original Neytiri ( Zoe Saldana) and her partner Jake Sully (Sam Worthington). Franchise newcomers include Kate Winslet, Michelle Yeoh, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, Edie Falco and Jemaine Clement.

Like its predecessor ‘Avatar’, the film is written and directed by James Cameron. The story was co-written by Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno.
