Australia’s tearaway quick Lance Morris suffered a left side strain during his team’s comprehensive eight-wicket win over West Indies in the 3rd ODI at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on Tuesday (February 6).

Morris made the West Indian batters smell the leather after Australia skipper Steve Smith won the toss and decided to unleash him and Xavier Bartlett on a fresh surface.

The quick from Western Australia bent his back and hurried the West Indians on numerous occasions. He was able to grab two scalps in the form of Keacy Carty and Teddy Bishop before heading to the dressing room while he was three balls into his fifth over.

Cricket Australia has confirmed that the pacer will undergo a scan to determine the damage’s extent.

Notably, Morris is known for cranking up the pace to levels that often leave batters in utter discomfort. He is one of the fastest seamers going around in Australia’s domestic circuit alongside Spencer Johnson.

Morris, 25, is yet to make his Test debut for Australia but has been travelling with the side for some time now. He was a part of the Australian squads during the home series against Pakistan and West Indies but wasn’t required to play at any stage as the frontline seamers i.e. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood pulled up really well.

Meanwhile, Australia registered their 19th clean sweep in an ODI series on Tuesday after defeating West Indies at Manuka Oval by eight wickets. They are second on the list of teams to have registered the most number of clean sweeps in One-Day Internationals (ODIs).

Pakistan have registered the most clean sweeps in ODI cricket with a total of 23 such series to their credit, whereas India are fourth on the ladder with 16 whitewashes. Australia will now face the Windies in a three-match T20I series.
