ATS to test vehicle fitness in Uttar Pradesh | Lucknow News – Times of India

LUCKNOW: State cabinet on Tuesday cleared the proposal to set up Automated Testing Stations (ATS) in every district of the state to check fitness of vehicles.
The decision is a big one as far as checking road accidents in the state is concerned. State government will spend Rs 500 crore to set up ATS in districts. This will put an end to manual testing of the vehicles’ fitness and also generate employment.
The stations will be ready in a year’s time. The stations will be set up through Public Private Partnership (PPP) in every district. In the first phase of the plan, every district will have at least one ATS. State government has already proposed ATS in Lucknow, Kanpur and Agra. The number of stations in every district may also increase given the requirement.
The plan will provide employment to youth. It will create more than 1,500 direct employment opportunities. It will not only speed up the fitness testing process for the vehicles but also ensure transparency.
