Atishi was reacting to the saffron party’s claims that 50 out of every 100 students studying in Delhi government schools drop out in Class 10 and a similar dropout pattern is observed in Classes 11 and 12.

Delhi Education Minister Atishi on Monday criticized the BJP for ‘spreading misinformation’ and ‘fabricating lies’ about the results of government schools in the city. She was reacting to the saffron party’s claims that 50 out of every 100 students studying in Delhi government schools drop out in class 10 and a similar dropout pattern is observed in classes 11 and 12. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also alleged that teachers were forced to write answers in almost blank answer sheets of below average students, especially in the multiple choice question section, and then pass them on with a minimum of 33 per cent marks. passed.

In a statement, Atishi said that the BJP was not concerned about the pathetic condition of government schools in the states it ruled, adding that these schools functioned in classrooms made of tin sheds and lacked basic amenities.

“The Arvind Kejriwal government is doing everything to improve the condition of government schools in Delhi and children here are leaving private schools and joining government institutions,” he said.

“Hence, the BJP has nothing else to do but to spread misinformation about our schools… If these (BJP) leaders were educated themselves, they would have been able to read the Department of Education (DOE) order,” he added. The minister said that if the BJP leaders had read the DoE order, they would have understood that there is a very simple process of re-verification of papers.

Hitting out at the AAP government, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva said the Kejriwal government’s self-proclaimed education model has failed and the response from government school teachers fully exposed the “failure” of the model.

“…shocked to learn from Delhi Govt school teachers as well as news reports that this year class 9 and 11 results are so bad that the Directorate of Education had to issue a circular asking teachers to review answer sheets asked for. students to increase the number of successful students till April 6,” the BJP said in a statement.
