Days after Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad was killed in an encounter in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi, his brother Ashraf Ahmed, a gangster-turned-politician, was killed on Saturday while being taken for a medical examination in Prayagraj.

Cases against Atiq Ahmed:

Atiq Ahmed was also an accused in the 2005 Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Raju Pal murder case and the Umesh Pal murder case in February this year. UP Police has so far arrested a total of 3 shooters in this incident. Following the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in a late night meeting directed state police officers to be on high alert and ensure law and order across the state.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, “UP CM Yogi Adityanath has directed the police officers to be vigilant, maintain peace, law and order in the state and not cause any trouble to the public.” Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a high-level inquiry into the matter.

Officials said, “CM Yogi immediately called a high-level meeting and ordered a high-level inquiry into the entire matter.” The Chief Minister also gave instructions to set up a three-member judicial commission (Judicial Inquiry Commission) in the matter.
