Atiq Ahmed Murder Updates: A senior Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) official will on Wednesday seek the remand of the three assailants who shot dead gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf, saying all questions related to the murder have been answered. Will go DIG, STF, Anand Dev Tiwari told reporters, “Atiq-Ashraf were murdered in front of the media. All three shooters are under arrest. We will take them in police remand and all questions related to the murder will be answered.” on Tuesday. He said whether there was a syndicate, an individual or enmity with them from where they got the weapons – all these questions and the real motive behind the murder would be answered when the police would take the three on remand.

Notably, Ahmed (60) and Ashraf were shot at by three men posing as journalists on Saturday night when police personnel were taking them for check-up at a medical college in Prayagraj. The three attackers Mohit alias Sunny (23) of Hamirpur, Lavlesh Tiwari (22) of Banda and Arun Maurya (18) of Kasganj are currently lodged in Pratapgarh Jail. When asked about Ahmed’s wife Shaista Praveen and Guddu Muslim, accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, who are absconding, the officer said that they would be arrested soon. “We have limits but they have many means to avoid arrest. As far as Guddu Muslim is concerned, he is known as Guddu ‘Bombaaz’ and is adept at evading arrest, while Praveen is known as ‘Pardansheen’ remains (in veil). But we will soon arrest him,” Tiwari said. Besides Ahmed and Ashraf, four others named in the FIR in the Umesh Pal murder case, Asad, Arbaaz, Vijay Chowdhary alias Usman and Ghulam, have also been killed. Umesh Pal was a key witness in the 2005 BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case, in which Ahmed was also an accused. The FIR in the Umesh Pal murder case was registered on February 25 by his wife Jaya Pal under relevant sections of the IPC, including 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder), and the Explosive Substances Act.
