Prayagraj: The Puramufti police of Prayagraj on Monday booked mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad, his son Ali Ahmad and seven others for criminal conspiracy, threatening and attacking a property dealer near Mauja Sundari Road.
An FIR under sections 147 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed), 504 (insult), 506 (criminal intimidation), 307 (attempt to murder), 427 (causing damage) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC was registered with Puramufti police station on Monday night.
While Atiq is currently lodged at Sabarmati jail in Gujarat, his son Ali Ahmad is cooling his heels at the Naini Central Jail.
The complainant, Mohd Zishan, a resident of Chakia, Khuldabad in his FIR alleged that a group of miscreants, including Faisal, Ashad, Arif alias Kacholi, Aman, Guddu alias Imran, Golu, Maisar and one another had attempted to kill him near Fungaon, Mauja Sundari village on July 26.
Zishan claimed that he along with his two friends had gone to see a price of land when SUV-borne miscreants intercepted his car and attacked them with wrong intentions.
He also claimed that when the miscreants opened fire at them with an intention to kill, he and his friends escaped towards a banana field and managed to save themselves.
When the miscreants went away, we returned to our car and found used bullets lying there, claimed Zishan further, adding that he was receiving threats from the son of the don. Puramufti police, however, said they were probing the charges and action would be taken accordingly.
