Home Minister Amit Shah discusses work-life balance ahead of Lok Sabha polls, sharing insights at the Rising Bharat Summit

At the Rising Bharat Summit in New Delhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday spilled beans on how he manages his “work-life and work-wife” balance amid the hectic schedule ahead of Lok Sabha elections starting April 19.

When asked about the demands of his roles for BJP and Home Ministry, Shah quipped, “I am not able to find time for my family, but my family takes out time for me.” Shah made these remarks in the presence of his wife, Sonal, who was in the audience and appeared amused by her husband’s answer.

During the second day of News18’s mega summit, Shah opened up about both political and national issues, including the successes achieved by the BJP-led government during Narendra Modi’s two terms. He also spoke on several political issues. On the Shiv Sena and NCP split, Shah blamed the rifts on their respective leaders’ love for their children and not because of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

“Those accusing us of breaking the parties should understand that Shiv Sena split because of Uddhav Thackeray’s ‘putra prem’ (love for son). If Uddhav Thackeray had given Eknath Shinde what he deserved, this would not have happened. In the case of the NCP, Sharad Pawar’s ‘putri prem’ (love for daughter) is the reason for the split. Had Ajit Pawar been given his due, the split would have never happened,” Shah said.

The Home Minister also expressed his view on the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down electoral bonds. “The Supreme Court’s decision is binding on all citizens and I respect their verdict on electoral bonds. But my personal opinion is that bonds had almost ended black money in politics. This is why the entire INDIA bloc led by Rahul Gandhi was against the bonds and they wanted the old system of cut money to rule over politics once again,” he said.

On a question about the recent Chinese statement on the state of Arunachal Pradesh, Shah said, “They have been saying it since the times of Jawaharlal Nehru. At that time, they had even captured a big part. I was not born then in 1962. But under the Modi government, no one can dare to even take an inch of land at any Indian border, this is our promise to the people of Bharat.”
