At $49bn, Adani adds most wealth in 2021 – Times of India

Mumbai: Seven out of every 100 billionaires in the world are either Indian or of Indian origin.
newest Hurun rich list showed that out of 3,381 billionaires globally, 249 are either Indian or of Indian origin. Of these, 215 live in India. The report also showed that Mukesh Ambani remained the richest Asian with a net worth of $103 billion and the only Indian in the global top 10.
Gautam Adani has amassed the highest net worth of around $49 billion at the rate of Rs 6,000 crore per week in the last one year. According to the M3M Hurun report, with a net worth of $81 billion, he is the second richest Indian and 12th globally.
The report also said that following the listing of Nykaa brand owner FSN E-Commerce Ventures, its main promoter Falguni Nair became the richest new entrant in the rich list. His net worth was $7.6 billion.
The report also showed that Indians top the global list in many areas. Cyrus Poonawalla, the main promoter of Serum Institute, the world’s largest vaccine maker, is the world’s richest healthcare billionaire with a net worth of $26 billion. Kumar Mangalam Birla, with a net worth of $18 billion, is the richest cement billionaire in the world.
The list also reveals that Asian Paints’ Ashwin Dani and his family are the world’s richest Paints billionaires with a net worth of $9.7 billion. Rakesh Gangwal and Rahul Bhatia of InterGlobe Aviation, which runs Indigo Airlines, are the world’s richest aviation billionaires. The Hurun report said Gangwal’s net worth was $4.3 billion, Bhatia’s $4.2 billion.
Ambani is also the richest telecom entrepreneur in the world while Adani is the richest globally in the energy sector. The country’s economic capital city is also home to 72 billionaires, compared to 51 in Delhi and 28 in Bengaluru.
