Assembly polls: Election Commission relaxes campaigning rules ahead of second phase, know details

With a drop in daily Covid-19 cases, the Election Commission (EC) on Saturday announced relaxations in campaigning rules for political parties ahead of the second phase of Assembly elections in five states. According to the commission, the election campaign can now be done between 6 am to 10 pm instead of 8 am to 8 pm. As indicated by the new rules, pad Yatra (foot march), comprising not more than the allowed number of people according to State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) restrictions, is currently permitted. The pad yatras can proceed with the prior permission of district authorities.
