Assembly elections 2022: BJP’s central election committee meeting today, candidates will be finalized

New Delhi: The Central Election Committee (CEC) of the BJP will meet in the national capital on Wednesday to finalize the names of candidates for the Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Goa assemblies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the meeting.

BJP CEC meeting is scheduled to start at 11.30 am. The crucial meeting will break the suspense in the names of candidates with new equations among the coalition parties for seats.

BJP UP Candidates List

After a marathon meeting in the last three days, the BJP has agreed on the names of candidates for the remaining phases of the 2022 UP assembly elections. The names of the candidates for the third, fourth and fifth phases are likely to be announced today.

After a long discussion between top leaders including JP Nadda, Amit Shah, Dharmendra Pradhan, Sunil Bansal, CM Yogi, Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya and BJP state president Swatantra Dev Singh, the BJP core committee finalized the names for 160 seats. .

The seat-sharing formula in the alliance for the 2022 UP assembly elections has also been finalized and is likely to be announced today.

So far, the names of 109 candidates have been announced by the saffron party for the 2022 UP assembly elections.

Decision on fate of Goa, Uttarakhand, Punjab candidates

The list of candidates for Goa, Uttarakhand and Punjab prepared by the Core Committee will be placed in the CEC meeting. According to the information received by ABP News, BJP CEC will stamp this list after discussion on Wednesday.

The BJP has decided the fate of the candidates for the rest of the election states of Goa, Uttarakhand and Punjab.

On January 8, the Election Commission had announced the schedule for the assembly elections to be held in five states. The UP elections are significant with Punjab, Manipur, Goa and Uttarakhand as one of the most populous states.
