Assam to become a local language based education laboratory in India: Dharmendra Pradhan

Throwing light on the linguistic diversity in Assam, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Said that the state can be a laboratory of local language based education in India. He said that the diversity of languages ​​cannot be seen better than in the Northeast region, which has around 180 languages ​​spoken by the tribes living here. Pradhan was addressing the North-East Education Conclave at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital Auditorium.

Pradhan along with Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the conference in Guwahati. Pradhan said that in the field of education India is undergoing an unprecedented change and National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 Introduced with the aim of making the youth of the 21st century future ready, socially aware, global citizens.

He appreciated the initiative of the State Education Department and Sankardev Education and Research Foundation (SERF) for organizing the first of its kind education conference in the country. Speaking on the occasion, Pradhan said that NEP 2020 is a visionary approach to transform the education landscape of the country and heralding a paradigm shift in the education landscape of India. He also said that the NEP is a unifying factor in celebrating our diversity and strength as a civilization.

Elaborating on the vision of NEP, he said that NEP focuses on developing desired learning abilities, equipping students with 21st century knowledge and skills and preparing our youth to become global citizens.

He said that the aim of the North East Education Conference is to discuss and deliberate on various aspects of NEP-2020 which will help in creating a roadmap for the North Eastern Region and formulating a strategy for its successful implementation. NEP-2020 has laid emphasis on imparting education in mother tongue and local languages ​​and the government is trying to convert this vision into reality.

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that NEP 2020 has given an opportunity to go beyond marksheets to strive for knowledge which will make India more powerful, take the country to greater heights, empower students and make them will provide opportunities to grow.

The Chief Minister apprised that a roadmap for the implementation of NEP in the region would be finalized as a result of the two-day deliberations, while the policy would be converted into action and a new and powerful India as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A time limit will be set to make the dream come true. He expressed his gratitude to the Union Education Minister for attending the conference and said that his able and dynamic leadership would guide the state towards proper implementation of NEP-2020.
