Assam Police Recovers Explosives From Passenger Bus, One Arrested

Goalpara: A person has been arrested from a passenger bus coming from Meghalaya carrying a huge quantity of explosives in Goalpara, Assam. The police gave this information on Sunday. The Goalpara district police also recovered the detonator from the bus in a joint operation with a team from the Krishnai police station in Assam.

Goalpara ASP Rituraj Dole said, “We have arrested one person in this connection. Police have recovered number 1162 gelatin and 998 detonators from the bus. The bus was coming from Meghalaya.”

According to the police, on the basis of secret information, the police team of Goalpara district and the team of Krishnai police station launched an operation and stopped a passenger bus in Krishnai area. The incident is being further investigated.

In a similar incident, the Border Security Force intercepted an Assam-bound civil bus and seized a huge quantity of Burmese areca nut worth Rs 12 lakh from Umkiang area of ​​Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills, an official statement said on April 10. Went.

Four people, including the driver and co-driver, were arrested in connection with the incident for failing to produce valid documents. The incident took place on April 9 in which 172 Battalion of BSF Meghalaya, acting on a specific input, seized betel nuts.

“The apprehended persons disclosed that they were coming from Tripura and the consignment was being taken to ISBT Guwahati,” the statement said.
