Assam floods: People take shelter on highways as houses flooded

Around 1.42 lakh people in 155 villages of Raha revenue division have been affected by the current wave of floods.

Children are participating in preschool activities in the relief camp itself in Nagaon district.

Integrated Child Development Services Supervisor NP Dole told ANI, “We are providing children morning prayer, physical exercise, participating in preschool activities in relief camp (Nagaon) with drawings. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal visited this camp earlier. did.”

The flood situation in Assam remained grim on Friday as 45.34 lakh people are still in the grip of floods.

Two drones have been deployed in Silchar in Cachar district for flood mapping as well as for providing relief material in inaccessible areas.

Today 85.2 MT of GR commodities including packaged drinking water, rice etc. were air transported from Guwahati and Jorhat to Silchar.

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel along with volunteers from SDRF, fire and emergency personnel, police force and Aapda Mitra are assisting the district administration in rescue operations and relief distribution.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 33,03,316 people in 3,510 villages in 28 districts have been affected by floods, while 91658.49 hectares of crop area has been affected by floods.

“717 relief camps and 409 relief distribution centers have been opened in all the affected areas. A total of 2,65,788 prisoners are residing in these relief camps. The situation arising out of incessant rains is being monitored,” an official release said. ”

The flood situation has slightly improved in Kampur area of ​​Nagaon district of Assam, but many areas under Kampur revenue circle are still in flood water.
