In Barpeta district alone, more than 7.31 lakh people have been affected. At the same time, more than 3.54 lakh people have been affected in Darang, 3.52 lakh in Bajali, 1.25 lakh in Hojai and 1.13 lakh in Bangaigaon. Due to incessant rains in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and neighboring Bhutan, rivers in Assam and other neighboring states are flowing above the danger mark.
The water level of Brahmaputra, Pagaladia, Beki, Manas, Kapili, Jia Bharali is above the danger mark in many parts of Assam. Due to incessant rains, a situation of waterlogging has arisen in various parts of the capital Guwahati. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reviewed the flood situation in the state and directed all district administrations to ensure adequate supply of relief materials.
More than 1.5 lakh people in relief camps
The administration has set up 514 relief camps and 302 relief distribution centers in the flood-affected districts. 1,56,365 people are taking shelter in relief camps. Apart from this, people have also taken shelter on roads, embankments and high places. According to the ASDMA report, 4,291 villages are submerged under 118 revenue circles. At the same time, 66,455.82 hectares of agricultural land has been submerged in water. More than 25.54 lakh animals have been affected by this.
9,102 people rescued so far
The Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDFR), fire and emergency services and administration have so far rescued 9,102 people, including children and women, from 22 districts. At the same time, according to the bulletin, 20,983 people have been evacuated to safer places so far.
Slight improvement in flood situation in Tripura, one shedding
There was no rain in Tripura on Sunday and a slight improvement in the flood situation was recorded. However, there is a report of a person being swept away in a strong current in Katakhal. At present, the water level of Howrah river has come down below the danger mark. The missing person has been identified as Siraj Miyan of Mylakhola. According to SDMA officials, 12,000 people from three districts were displaced in the floods triggered by the rains that began on Friday. 45 relief camps have been prepared for the affected.
Assam government will take help of IIT, Guwahati for drone survey
The Assam government will seek help from the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati to expedite and make flood relief and rescue operations more effective. The team from IIT, Guwahati will assist in the campaign through drone survey. The dean of the institute, Parameshwara Iyer, said, the government has approached us and we will start work in this direction soon. The drone was developed by IIT, Guwahati as a start up.
