An agreement was recently signed between the governments of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh at Namsai in Arunachal Pradesh to resolve the border issue.
Based on this agreement several regional committees were formed to resolve the boundary issue between the two states. The committees will submit a report to the chief ministers of the two states by September 15.
Both states have agreed in principle to restrict the number of disputed villages to 86 instead of 123.
