Australia captain Pat Cummins liked the tough fighting nature of the fourth Ashes Test, which ended in a draw at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday. At the same time, Cummins also felt that if the weather was fine at the end of the match, he would have won the match.
England’s last batting pair of Stuart Broad and James Anderson stopped Australia from scoring 4-0 in the last two overs.
“Great game of Test cricket. We came close. A little less weather might get us there. Obviously would have loved 4-0, but good match. Tough fighting game, that’s why we love it,” Cummins said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

When asked about his learnings from the Test, Cummins cheekily remarked, “I’ve learned the weather forecast is disappointing! On the fourth day it rained all day. So I was ready to follow-on and I think tomorrow we will have a full day to bowl.
He further said that the Sydney pitch was not playing much. He said, ‘It is really good to get close to 400, the wicket doesn’t move much, they have some class batsmen. Thought we had plenty of time. Lucky to have five real bowlers, Smithy and Marnus.”

Cummins said that vice-captain Steve Smith volunteered to bowl at the end of the match. Smith eventually took the wicket of Jack Leach to lead Australia to victory, but was pulled off by Broad and Anderson.
Smith talked about the vice-captain and said that I will bowl. There is a joke going on in the team that they should bowl who is No. 1 in the team (between Smith and Marnus Labuschagne). He is bowling well in the nets so I thought.
