Ashes 2021-22 Playing XI: Watch team updates for Australia vs England day-night Test in Adelaide

The high-profile Ashes 2021-22 series action has shifted to Adelaide where Australia will look to make it 2-0 against England. The upcoming second match of the five-match Test series will be a day-night affair.

Pat Cummins’ Australia shed first blood in the first Test of the five-match Ashes 2021-22 series as they beat the Tourists by nine wickets on the fourth day at the Gabba in Brisbane on Saturday. Electing to bat first, England were bundled out for 147 runs in 50.1 overs. Cummins hit a half-century in his captaincy debut.

The hosts responded by scoring 425 runs off Travis Head’s score of 152. England offered some resistance in their second essay, with David Malan (82) and Root (89) sharing a solid third wicket partnership.

However, his dismissal in the morning session on the fourth day led to England’s downfall and they were eventually bundled out for 297. Nathan Lyon took four wickets and reached the personal milestone of 400 Test wickets in the fourth innings of the Gabba Test.

After the break, the hosts chased down a target of 20 runs in 5.1 overs to take a 1-0 lead.

Focusing on the second Test at the Adelaide Oval, Australia have named their eleven with one change – Jhye Richardson replaced the injured Josh Hazlewood.

Hazlewood has been ruled out of the pink ball Test with a side strain injury.

England have picked a 12-man squad and have refrained from confirming the playing XI. Despite the terrible performance in Brisbane, Root will have James Anderson and Stuart Broad fit and available in hopes of creating some magic with the pink ball.

They have retained spinner Jack Leach, while Chris Woakes may have to make way to accommodate one of the experienced pacers.
