Welcoming Asim Arun to the party, Anurag Thakur said, “A person who is experienced, honest and a role model for the youth, is joining the BJP today. I welcome Asim Arun.”
“The BJP will grow from his experience and more youth like him will join the BJP,” he said.

Meanwhile, BJP released its first list of 107 candidates for the upcoming assembly elections. Uttar Pradesh In which it refused tickets to 20 sitting MLAs and fielded 21 new candidates.
The party has released the list for the first and second phase of elections to be held on February 10 and 14.
To maintain the caste arithmetic balance and to garner voters, BJP has fielded women in 10 seats. OBC Candidates from 44 seats and Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates from 19 seats, which is 60 percent of the total.
Voting for 403 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh will begin in seven phases from February 10.
In Uttar Pradesh, polling will be held in seven phases on 10, 14, 20, 23, 27 and March 3 and 7. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
