It is reported that producer Anil Sunkara has invested around Rs 80 crore in the film which has failed to impress the cine-lovers.

South star Akhil Akkineni, who has been facing flak for the poor performance of his film Agent, was reportedly spotted at the Hyderabad airport on Tuesday. According to Mirchi 9, the actor went to Dubai for a holiday. The news about Akhil’s rumored vacation comes after the actor was trolled for Agent failing at the box office. He has been trolled for his performance and story ever since it released in the theaters on April 28. Fans speculate that Akhil Akkineni, like many celebs, has gone on a vacation to take his mind off the disastrous outcome of his new film, reported the publication.

The Surender Reddy directorial is reportedly struggling to even touch the Rs 10 crore mark. It was expected to be a big hit in Akhil Akkineni’s career, he reportedly worked hard on it for two years. But sadly, despite bringing in renowned star Mammootty in a pivotal role, Agent failed to entertain the cine-lovers.

The film’s producer, Anil Sunkara, has acknowledged its failure and claimed that starting a project “without a bound script” was “a big mistake”. On May 1, Anil Sunkara wrote a note on Twitter which read, “We have to take full blame for the agent. Though we know it is a tough task, we thought to conquer but failed to do so.” Because we made a big mistake by starting the project without any bound script and after myriad issues including covid.

He added: “We don’t want to give any excuses but learn from this costly mistake and see how we can make sure we never repeat the mistakes. We apologize to everyone who put their trust in us. Will make up for the loss with dedicated planning and hard work in future projects.Anil Sunkara reportedly invested around Rs 80 crore in the film.

Even Amala Akkineni addressed the criticism and trolling of her son post the release of Agent. She wrote in an Instagram post that “while (Agent) has its flaws, if you look at it with an open mind, you will be amazed.” Her caption, along with an inspiring quote by Tim Hansen, read: “I understand trolling comes from a deep insecurity and need for achievement. I saw Agent yesterday and honestly enjoyed the movie. It has its flaws though, but if you If you watch it with an open mind, you will be surprised. The hall where I saw it was packed, half of the audience were women, mothers and grandmothers with their husbands and sons! And I’m sure the next one will be bigger and better.

According to a report in India Today, Agent earned around Rs 25 lakh on its fifth day, taking the five-day collection to Rs 9.21 crore. Apart from Akhil and Mammootty, the film also stars Dino Morea in the lead role.
