Aryan Khan case: Mumbai court gives 60 days extension to NCB probe team to file chargesheet

A special Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) court granted an extension of 60 days to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB)’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the drugs-on-cruise case involving Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan.

The SIT, which is probing the case, had earlier sought 90 days to file the chargesheet. Today was the last day to file the chargesheet.

Earlier in December, the Bombay High Court had granted relief to Aryan Khan, arrested in the drugs-on-cruise case, from appearing before the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) every week.

However, the court had directed him to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Delhi when summoned.

The SIT took over the probe in November last year after Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik made allegations of payment against NCB’s Mumbai zonal officer Sameer Wankhede and he was sacked from further investigation.

On October 28, the High Court had granted bail to Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha along with Arbaaz Merchant and other accused in the drug on cruise case.

An alleged drugs party was busted by an NCB team on board the Cordelia cruise ship, which was on its way to Goa in the middle of the sea on the night of October 2. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had detained eight people for questioning in connection with the case.

Later on October 3, eight people were arrested, including Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha. Later a total of 20 people were arrested in this case.
