Arvind Kejriwal poses with Bhagwant Mann, congratulates people of Punjab for ‘revolution’

Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal has congratulated the people of Punjab as AAP is all set to regain control of the state in its first major victory outside Delhi. Kejriwal took to his official Twitter account to share a picture with potential Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, in which both are seen making victory gestures.

Sharing the picture, Kejriwal wrote, “Many congratulations to the people of Punjab for this revolution.” Meanwhile, Mann won from Dhuri, which comes under his home territory Sangrur. He defeated Congress leader Dalveer Singh Goldie – who hails from Dhuri – and was calling Mann an ‘outsider’. Interestingly, it was Dalveer Singh Goldie who defeated AAP’s Jasvir Singh Jassi Sekhon by a margin of 2,811 votes in the 2017 state elections.

AAP also won the Lehra seat in Sangrur. Barinder Goyal of AAP defeated former CM Rajinder Kaur Bhattal (Cong) and Parminder Singh Dhindsa (SAD Sanyukt) with a margin of 27,000 votes.

The Aam Aadmi Party is heading towards a clean sweep in the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections with a lead in over 90 seats. The exit polls had also predicted victory of AAP’s chief ministerial candidate Bhagwant Mann in 2022 and a stage is already being set up and jalebis are being served at AAP office and Mann’s residence in Delhi. Mann and incumbent Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi offered prayers at the gurdwaras before the counting of votes began.

Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu congratulated the Aam Aadmi Party for a big victory in the Punjab elections. “People’s voice is God’s voice. Accept the mandate of the people of Punjab humbly. Congratulations AAP,” Navjot Sidhu tweeted.
