Arsenal Lead Race to Rope in Manchester City Striker Gabriel Jesus

Brazil striker Gabriel Jesus is once again at the center of transfer discussions. The arrival of Erling Haaland will cut Jesus’ playing time at Manchester City and Arsenal are looking to make full use of the situation. The Gunners are reportedly interested in signing the 25-year-old.

According to an ESPN report, Arsenal have intensified the search for Jesus and the London-based club are confident a deal can be struck. The report further added that City are looking for a fee in the region of £50m and Arsenal are at the forefront of the race to sign the forward.

However not everything is resolved yet. Currently, Arsenal are working out details of the deal and a possible transfer fee and bonus that would be enough to convince Manchester City. A previous offer of £30m was already rejected but Arsenal are expected to offer a new bid. According to several reports, Jesus is also keen to join Arsenal.

Gabriel Jesus reached Manchester City after scoring 28 goals for Palmeiras. He represented the Brazilian club 83 times. Before the 2017-18 season, Jesus joined Manchester City. So far, he has worn the City jersey in 236 matches and has returned to the nets 95 times.

In the recently concluded Premier League, Jesus, who has one year remaining on his City contract, scored eight goals and provided several assists to help City win the league title. It is believed that Jesus fits the needs of the player Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta is trying to induct.

The Gunners are also on the verge of hiring midfielder Fabio Vieira from Portuguese football club Porto. The deal will be finalized after passing medical tests and agreeing to individual terms.

Fabio scored six league goals after playing 15 matches for Porto in the recently concluded Portuguese domestic league. Overall, the 22-year-old has scored 10 goals in 76 appearances for Porto. The Portuguese attacking midfielder will sign a five-year contract for a transfer worth up to €40 million, ESPN reports.
